Validate My Existence
01:20
|
|||
Everyone’s a prisoner in this giant floating cell
Existing in a collective construct
Making our own heaven and hell
Man is both devil and god
Divine and tragically Flawed
There’s only one escape as far as I can tell
Give me something to persist this
Validate my existence

75 Year Plan
01:52
|

I’m just dipping my feet in the quicksand
It’s a slow death it’ll swallow me by the time I’m about 75
But for now I’m feeling just fine
Every breath gets a little more shallow
Every new day means more days I’ve left behind
If I keep my chin above the surface,
I can block it out of my mind.
It’s up to my waist now
It’s dragging me under but I’ve got enough time to make a few more mistakes
And ignore my eventual date with demise
If I’m lucky I’ll work long enough
To pay of the debts and my IOU’s
It really isn’t so tough
I’ll just read all my lines and follow my cues
I’m just dipping my feet in the quicksand
It’s a slow death it’ll swallow me by the time I’m about 75
See you at the finish line
Every breath gets a little more shallow
Every new day means more days I’ve left behind
If I keep my chin above the surface,
I can block it out of my mind

How have we come so far?
Betraying better wisdom
Applauding shallow hearts
Our final days have come
We going to suck the earth dry until it’s given its last drops
Let’s build up landfills and fill the ocean with plastic
Speeding towards the abyss
Now we’re approaching the last stop
Depleting resources is a drug and we’re all addicted
Who amongst us believes we deserve a second chance?
We’re not fit to ascend
Not worthy to advance
We spoil every single fucking thing we’ve got our grubby little hands on
Parading our piety
None are worthy, not one
None are worthy, not one
We’ve had our day in the sun

Your Foot Is On My Neck
02:00
|

Would you kill yourself just to last a little longer than the next guy?
Would you step on the neck of your best friend just to survive?
Would you sell out your mother and your brothers for a slice of the pie?
When you’re ready to make that deal, sign on the dotted line
In this life you’re either hunter or prey
Only the strongest survive
That’s a plate or shit we feed ourselves every goddamn day
7.75 billion and counting
Voices shouting “gimme gimme gimme”
Ready to stand on the backs of anyone just to defy gravity.
We’re all looking out for number one
Trying to escape from a fate we can’t outrun
We’re just looking out for number one
Striving to destroy the demons we all become

Rent My Life
01:40
|

We’ve spent our lives trying to justify the right to breathe air
Believing ourselves to be temporarily embarrassed millionaires
What part of yourself do you still own?
Besides a car or the place you call home?
Consume for the sake of consumption
and run yourself into the ground just end up Nowhere
What part of yourself do you own?
We have the world at our fingertips
But what good is having it all when there’s no one in your life who gives a shit?
We’re more connected than ever
But we still can’t live together
From the outside we have it all but we’re still more alone than we’d like to admit
